A life too short
On December 2, 2012 at the age of only 29, Michela Dorigo passes away due to a tragic car accident in San Vendemiano (TV) .
Michela was a promising young architect and lived in Conegliano (TV ), where she worked at the studio Pool Engineering for Eng. Antonio Cancian for over three years .
Every weekend she came back home to Caorle to visit her family : parents Marco, Marina and her brother Ruggero.
At the young age of only eighteen she became type 1diabetic, and then insulin – dependent.
However, with her animated spirit and a great desire to always learn and never give up, she graduated as a land surveyor with top honors ( 110/110 ) and then received her Bachelor’s degree in Production Building and Science in Architecture, both obtained at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice.
After passing the State examination for the exercise of the profession , she then enrolled in the Order of Architects of the Province of Venice.
Michela had acquired some professional experience at design studios in Italy and abroad in Rome at the studio of the architect Massimiliano Fuksas; San Donà di Piave at the studio Pro.Tec.O. architect Valter Granzotto; Toronto (Canada) at the studio Onespace Architects + Interior Designers.
She was fluent in English, both spoken and written.
She traveled halfway around the world , even by herself , and had been able to cope with her illness without it ever weighing on the people that were closest to her.
Shortly before the tragic event, she dedicated her time as a volunteer for a clown therapy group called, Vip Claunando in Pordenone.
Soon after she began to collaborate with the Association of Voluntary Vip Venice Onlus San Donà di Piave , taking the name of “CICCICOCCA”.
In times of difficulty , to give herself courage and strength, she loved to repeat the ending of a poem by William Ernest Henley, very dear to Nelson Mandela :
I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul .
For all this and more, on December 1, 2013, at the initiative of her loved ones and friends, an association was formed in memory of Michela.
